The Interactive STEM Development Seminars (ISDS) expose students to STEM topics through the experience and voice of the WEEF network of STEM Minority Professionals. Each seminars focuses on STEM fields, ranging from structural engineering, physics, robotics, biomedical engineering to mathematical modeling and computer programming.

Students learn about professions within STEM industries directly from individuals who look like them, have similar backgrounds, and have faced and overcome similar obstacles. Minority professionals lead students through ISDS projects, all the while providing insight into what students must learn in order to enter the STEM field of their choosing. The Goal is for students to leave the seminar with a sense of excitement and direction.

IDEAL PARTICIPANT:

- Current High School student.

- Motivated minority students who are interested in topics in the STEM field.

- Students interested in meeting like mined individuals.

- Students interested in gaining exposure and networking with professionals within the STEM fields.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:

- Play interactive games and run experiments.

- Meet minority STEM professionals.

PROGRAM PRODUCT:

We produce minority scholars with knowledge of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) principles and support them on a path to a career in the STEM field.
